My good friend Tina (on eBay and YouTube as Shabby DabbyDooDah) had made one of these (video here) with a beautiful tag album to go inside. Tina has quite a following on YouTube now with videos of her Junk Journal making process, and sells her Junk Journals too.
I believe she got the idea from Pinterest. Don’t you just loooove Pinterest? I can waste hours… days even!
Anyway, Tina showed me hers and I just fell in love with the idea! I love books and (to my hubby’s disgust) collect them! so giving them a new life, a new purpose, appealed to me. So here is my version.
This one in particular has been redecorated in pale blue chalk paint and distressed in the popular vintage shabby chic style. The pages inside were glued together to form a box compartment suitable for all sorts of ephemera. I added a french label, twine and a heart charm to the cover. Finished with matt varnish.
The dimensions are: 3.8cm (1.5″) deep, 16cm (6.3″) wide when closed, opening to 31cm (12.2″), 24cm (9.4″) tall, box compartment is 2.8cm (1.1″) deep, 11.5cm (4.5″) wide and 19.3cm (7.6″) in length.
Would make a lovely gift for the shabby chic, vintage style guru in your life!
